Best Air Quality in the World

I have been reading a lot about air pollution recently and I am curious to know which cities or countries have the best air quality in the world. It seems like most major cities struggle with pollution, but there must be places where the air is really clean and safe to breathe. I am interested not just in statistics but also in the lifestyle and environmental policies that contribute to clean air. Are these areas mostly rural, or do some cities manage to maintain excellent air quality as well? I would love to hear from people who have visited or lived in such places. How does it feel to breathe in such clean air, and what kind of practices or regulations help maintain this level of purity? Any recommendations for cities to visit or live in for clean air would be amazing. :leaf_fluttering_in_wind:

From my experience, some of the cleanest air in the world can be found in Scandinavian countries like Norway and Sweden. Cities such as Oslo and Stockholm consistently rank high in air quality reports. They have strict emissions regulations, extensive green spaces, and a strong focus on sustainable transportation. Breathing the air there feels refreshing, and you rarely notice smog or dust. People are also very conscious of environmental practices, which makes a big difference.

I visited Wellington in New Zealand and was amazed by the clean air. Even in the city center, the air felt crisp and fresh. Part of this is due to low industrial activity, good urban planning, and the use of renewable energy sources. It really makes outdoor activities enjoyable. I think these cities prove that good policy and public awareness can maintain excellent air quality even in urban areas.

Thank you, I will add these places to my travel list!

I read that cities in Canada, like Vancouver and Calgary, also have very good air quality. They combine strict vehicle emission standards with large green areas and efficient public transportation. Residents seem very aware of how their activities impact air quality. It is impressive how these policies have created a healthier environment. You can notice a difference immediately when you breathe outside.

I lived in Zurich, Switzerland for a while, and the air quality there was outstanding. Even during winter, when heating is used extensively, pollution levels are still low. The city focuses on clean energy, low-emission public transport, and strict industrial regulations. People also tend to use bicycles and walk more, reducing vehicle emissions. It really makes daily life healthier.

Air quality is not only about regulations but also geography. Cities with lots of wind and low population density tend to have cleaner air. Reykjavik in Iceland is another example. There is almost no industrial pollution, and the natural environment helps maintain air purity. It feels almost surreal compared to highly polluted cities. :globe_showing_europe_africa:

Some Asian cities are improving too. For example, Singapore has excellent air quality despite being densely populated. Strict laws on emissions, a well-maintained public transport system, and abundant green areas contribute to this. It shows that even in a crowded city, clean air is achievable with proper planning and enforcement.
